Super Fat Tuesday!

I wish I could take credit for the title of my post, but I can't.  It's what ellen said on her show today. "It's Fat Tuesday!  It's Super Tuesday!  It's Super Fat Tuesday!"

For Ellen's 50th birthday, she asked people to donate to Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation.  This foundation is working to build eco-friendly homes to families in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans.  The lower 9th ward is not only impoverished, but it was the area that received the most damage from Hurricane Katrina.  The goal is to build 150 homes at a cost of about $150,000 per home.  They have already acquired funds for at least 70 of the homes and the plan is to break ground this spring.  It is an amazing, amazing organization.  There are t-shirts available through ellen's website where all of the profits go toward Make It Right.  The t-shirts are really cute so buy one now!

For many, Fat Tuesday is all about Mardi Gras and for ellen this is a great time to remind everyone about how much help the people of New Orleans need.  For the past 29 months (since the hurricane occurred), ellen has been a strong advocate for the area.  She has done multiple fundraisers.  She has spoken at graduations.  She has given assistance to get people back on their feet employment wise and material wise.  She has truly remained a constant for the people of New Orleans.

Here is a montage (with George H. W. Bush doing the intro) of some of the stuff we've seen ellen do for New Orleans.  (It's 6 minutes long.)

I show you all of that because I want to spread the love.  I want us all to remember that there are people right here who need our help.  Additionally, there are so many issues in our world that need addressing (and some fixin') so use today as your chance to get YOUR voice heard.

Head to your polling place and participate in the 2008 Presidential Caucus (hey, I plan to with 3 kids in tow)!  It is your duty (and honor) as a U.S. Citizen.

I cannot go away without showing you these.  Ellen has been finding the craziest products lately.  One is called the Hawaii Chair.  The other is the Tiddy Bear (say that out loud).  They are hilarious.

The Hawaii Chair:  (it's only a minute long)

The Tiddy Bear:  (It's well worth the two minute video!)
