Time Playing Tricks On Me
I remember how difficult the last few time changes were for our family. They were downright messy. Thus, I decided to play a trick on time-- if that is what you want to call it. All I really did was allow my children to sleep until they would normally wake up yesterday. The clock said 8:00 am, but their bodies believed it to be 7:00 am. (Aaaah, I can say I slept in. Ha!) Regardless, when it came to be 1:00 pm, my children were far from ready to take a nap. I decided that the best thing to do would be to skip naptime and just let them proceed to bedtime.
When 8:00 pm rolled around, they were mad tired. Each child was asleep within minutes and still wanted to continue to sleep beyond 7:00 am. It was a tiny slice of heaven and definitely the way to go. I'm not quite sure how I'll handle it in the fall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We had a great weekend around here. It was a bit on the busy side, but that is just the way we like it. Sometimes.
Aselya and I both visited the dentist. Good news for both patients: no cavities. Aselya was so funny. As per her usual self, she refused to say anything. It really just takes her a bit to warm up and know that the people around her aren't going to turn into crazies or something. I also got to witness this on Saturday afternoon when I took Aselya to a baby shower for Jon and Shannon.
She was greeted by people she has met numerous times and she hid behind me until a) she could chow down on some celery (with dip!) and b) the paper ball and body tosses began. You want pictures? Well, I did bring my camera along. It just never made its way out of the camera bag. As it turns out, this was a great thing as I left the memory card at home. Yes, I am a dork. Tisha, on the other hand, was a photo taking professional and captured some really great moments.
The baby shower occurred on just the right date as Jon and Shannon welcomed their new baby, Joseph, on Sunday morning. I am sure many details will follow, but there is a picture of the sweet one here and here. Many congratulations to the new parents!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Going back to the photo thing, I have been really, really bad about taking pictures lately. I made a pact to work out of the auto settings and while that is going well for me, it is also a difficult task because moving out of auto works best when you have a lot of natural light. It has been cold and snowy outside. I am a wimp. We've been spending a lot of time indoors. Put all of those things together and you have a huge cut in the amount of photos I take.
But. I did get a couple in the last day or two for you. All for you.
Yesterday while he didn't take a nap, Xaden did have a bit of quiet time. I figured if any of the three absolutely needed a nap, it would be him. As it turned out, he was not tired and decided to stay in his bed and have some quality time with the Cat in the Hat and Mia. He was playing with them so sweetly. He had them conversing and walking along his pillow together. I snuck in and took a couple of pictures. (For which I was reprimanded for sending the wrong message. But! Look! How could I not document such cuteness?)
I turned on the flash, and you can tell (see the shadows?).
And then this morning we met up with Amy, Dina, and Mira (finally-- it had been a LONG time) and went to one of the best organized and implemented story times around our neck of the woods. The theme for this week was leprechauns. The books were about a pot of gold being at the end of the rainbow-- one was very simplistic geared toward learning colors and another gave much more detail about how the myth came to be. As the first book was meant to be helpful in teaching kids their colors Xaden, without looking up at the book, would just yell out a random color. It was funny. And cute, of course.
After story time, there is always a craft. This time it was to color and decorate shamrocks. There were markers, green confetti, and glitter. We don't use glitter too often around here so there was a mad rush by my children to use glitter, glitter, and more glitter. Within seconds, Xaden managed to open a bottle of glitter and dump some of its contents onto the bench and carpet while Aselya managed to glitter up her hands. It was quite a sight. I was glad Amy was there to remind me that it was a perfect photo opportunity.
She was rather upset when it came time to wash that glitter right off of her hands (or is it gray right out of your hair?). Don't mind us. We'll just be over here glowing from all the glitter we played with today.... |
